RICHLAND CREEK RESERVOIR
DALLAS, GA
CHALLENGE
With Pauldin county’s population expected to double over the next 25 years, an independent water supply was critically needed. Construction of an access road to the new reservoir required the installation of a structure able to cross a live stream without impacting the waterway and while providing support for the new roadway above.
SOLUTION
In order to overcome the environmental constraints, Pinnacle Design/Build designed and constructed a bottomless arch structure for the access road. Pinnacle utilized Contech’s precast foundation forms to expedite the construction of the culvert.
VALUE
By taking advantage of the unique precast foundation units, construction time was reduced by minimizing the amount of time to form, place rebar, and pour the concrete footings beneath the arch culvert. The 305-acre Richland Creek Reservoir will store 3.43 billion gallons of drinking water for its residents. As the largest in the county’s history, the entire $80 million project consists of a new dam, reservoir, water treatment plant, two major pump stations, 20 miles of pipeline and other distribution system improvements.
